First Time at a Dispensary? An Orchard Mesa Beginner’s Guide

Walking into a dispensary for the first time can feel a little uncertain, there is a lot to take in, and it is easy to feel like everyone else knows exactly what they are doing. At Canna Care in Orchard Mesa, the team is used to working with first-timers, and the whole experience is designed to be low-pressure. Here is what to expect, from the parking lot to the checkout counter. You must be 21 or older to enter.

What to Bring

The most important thing is a valid, government-issued photo ID confirming your age. A driver’s license, state ID, or passport all work. Out-of-state IDs are accepted, Colorado recreational cannabis is open to adults 21 and up regardless of where you are from. Your ID will be checked at the door before you are allowed into the shop, so do not forget it at home or leave it in the car.

You do not need to bring anything else, though having a rough idea of what you are curious about can make the conversation with your budtender more productive. Are you interested in something to enjoy at the end of a long day? Something portable for an outdoor adventure? Just curious what all the options are? Any of those starting points work.

What Happens at Check-In

When you arrive, you will check in at the front. A staff member will verify your ID and confirm that you are 21 or older. This step is quick and straightforward. After that, you are free to browse the shop at your own pace. No one will hover over you or push you toward any particular product.

If you have questions, and most first-timers do, the budtenders are available and genuinely glad to help. You can ask about the difference between product formats, how to read a label, or just what is popular with other customers who are new to cannabis.

For adults new to cannabis, some formats are easier to start with than others. Here is a quick overview:
